     Michael is a Founding Partner in our firm. He is a summa cum laude graduate of St. Martin’s College, which is run by Benedictine Monks in the mountains in Washington - no kidding!!!  His degree is in political science and history.

      Michael is retired from the US Army. He held various positions in Service to our Nation. His most notable include:  an Army Ranger with the 2d Battalion of the 75th Infantry (Ranger) Regiment; serving as a Commander in Strategic Intelligence and Army Recruiting units; and finally, he was an intelligence case officer on assignment to the Defense Intelligence Agency. He was deployed in support of military operations in Grenada (1983), Panama (1991) and Iraq (2003); among others.
 
     Michael began using professional financial advice when he was commissioned a Second Lieutenant. His financial planner at that firm was, his now wife, Tammy. Michael began his financial planning career upon his retirement. He also served as a Partner with the New York Life Insurance Company.  
 
     Michael formalized his own company and is the Co-Founder of Shipman & Associates with his wife Tammy. He is rated in the top third of the top one percent of financial professionals nationwide based on MDRT statistical analysis in 2007, 2008 and 2009. Michael’s education and experience has focused on planning for more complex financial matters dealing with retirement, estates, philanthropy, and business succession.
 
     He resides in Boerne with his wife, Tammy and their children; Logan (13) and Ally (10). He has a large extended family also in the area. He enjoys fishing, firearms, and finances (the 3-Fs). He is a platinum member of the Boerne Chamber of Commerce, a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church, and member of various professional organizations related to financial planning.
