Jim Davis has been a resident of Boerne for the past 15 years and in the Financial Services business since 1999.

An Oklahoma native, Jim obtained his Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management from Southeastern Oklahoma State University where he played football for the Fighting Savages!  He later obtained his Graduate Degree from Purdue University.

Following in his father’s footsteps; Jim, upon finishing college, entered the railroad business assuming various management positions.  Recognized as a leader and “turnaround specialist” he served as General Manager for several railroad companies around the country, and while in Vermont in the mid 90’s, his rail company won the National Shortline Railroad Company of the Year 1995!  He served as Vice President of Operations for RailTex, Inc in San Antonio until 1999 when he took his entrepreneurial skills and opened several small businesses, including his financial services practice.

Jim and his business partner, Greg Rickert, formed the Hill Country Group, an employee benefit solutions firm in 2004 and recently joined forces with Shipman and Associates.  The combination of experience from being a business owner and willingness to assist people with their financial service needs, have made the business model a success.  With the added financial and estate planning options that Shipman and Associates offers, the model is now one of the premier firms in the area.

Serving others is important to Jim and the firm, evidenced by the volunteer efforts and Board positions held over the years.  Jim has been Board Chairman of the Boerne YMCA, President of the BYAA, President of the Champion HS Booster Club, Deacon at Currey Creek Baptist Church, Methodist Hospital Advisory Board member, LeaderSteps Board member, and volunteer member of Hill Country Family Services.

Jim and his wife Lori have two children.  Brittany, who teaches school in the FT Worth, TX area; and Taylor, a sophomore at Abilene Christian University.
